Robert Rohweder Obituary

Robert “Bob” Henry Rohweder passed away on Saturday, February 28, 2026, in Memorial Hospital. Born on October 6, 1938, in Chicago, IL, Bob's life was marked by devotion to his family, his faith, and his community.

Bob's early years in Chicago set the stage for a life of integrity and service. He met the love of his life, Karen (Topf), at Messiah Lutheran Church and School, where they both grew up. Their enduring love blossomed into a marriage of 65 years, filled with shared joys and unwavering partnership. Together, they raised a beautiful family, including their sons, Bob (Sherry) Rohweder, Jim (Toni) Rohweder and daughter, Susie (Mike) Romano.  Bob was a proud grandfather to Bobby, Kristi, Kari, Jimmy, Danny, Brandon, and Elyse, and he cherished his role as a great-grandfather to ten great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Carol (Harry) Mirkin.

Bob's professional life was marked by a commitment to excellence. As a Certified Public Accountant, he worked as a Director of Audit for two Fortune 500 companies, one of which brought him to South Bend.   He also founded his own Internal Audit Service Company and a Placement Service Company specializing in auditors, accountants, and IT professionals. His astute business acumen and ethical approach to his work earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and clients alike.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Bob was deeply involved in his community, particularly at St. Paul Lutheran Church, where he served as Vice President of the Church Board for 12 years. He also served on multiple committees at Resurrection Lutheran Academy.  His faith was a cornerstone of his life, with the 23rd Psalm holding a special place in his heart. Bob's belief in the Lord's guidance and provision was evident in the way he lived his life, always with grace and gratitude.

Bob's interests were as varied as they were passionate. He was an avid collector of antique cars, including a '56 Ford, a '67 Ford, and a '72 AMX. He enjoyed Auto Racing, following the sport and attending races whenever he could, including, being a longtime season ticket holder of the Indianapolis 500.  Traveling was another of his great joys, creating lifelong memories and experiences with his family.  Bob loved tending to his vegetable garden, from planting to harvesting, he took great pride in sharing his bounty with his family.

A Memorial Service to celebrate Bob's life will be held at 12 noon on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, in St. Paul Lutheran Church, with Rev. Matthew Schiemann officiating. Bob's legacy will live on through the lives he touched, the wisdom he imparted, and the love he shared. His was a life well-lived, full of purpose, faith, and joy. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his spirit will continue to inspire those he leaves behind.
