Jeremy passed away suddenly on February 26, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, friendship, loyalty, and a life well lived. He was a devoted dad and family man, a true car enthusiast, and one of those rare people who could make others feel at ease just by being himself.
Jeremy was born in South Bend, IN on November 13th, 1988 to his parents, Daren and Natalyn Richards. He grew up in Lakeville, IN where he enjoyed riding bikes and hanging out with his neighborhood friends. He graduated from Laville Jr.-Sr. High School in 2007 and went on to dedicate the past 15 years of his career to Welch Packaging.
If it had an engine, Jeremy probably loved it - or could fix it, especially if it was green or an Oldsmobile Cutlass. Cars weren't just a hobby for him, they were a way of life. Whether he was turning a wrench in the garage, going to swap meets, buying and selling cars and parts, or meeting fellow enthusiast along the way, he was in his element. Jeremy and his longtime girlfriend Heather, hosted annual car shows at their home, which was an event that many of his fellow gearheads, friends and family looked forward to every year.
Above all else, Jeremy loved his family. He showed up, stood steady, and made sure the people he loved knew it - often quietly, but always sincerely. Known for his signature smile and unmistakable laugh, Jeremy was always a kind man who never judged others and never hesitated to help. If someone needed a hand, advice or just someone to listen, he was there. Jeremy was a truly "chill guy" in the best sense of the word - easygoing, dependable and kind to everyone he met.
He leaves behind family, friends, and countless people who were lucky enough to know him and will miss him dearly.
Jeremy is survived by his parents, Daren and Natalyn Richards; longtime girlfriend, Heather Zielinski; and her sons, Evan Marquez and Hunter Zielinski, whom he loved as his own; his son, Dallas Richards; and his sisters Alexis and Abigail Becker; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family members of the Richards and Hohnke families.
His memory will live on in shared stories, long drives, the rumble of a well-loved engine, and in the quiet reminder to always be good to one another. He will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
