Daniel Davis Obituary

Daniel Davis, of South Bend, Indiana, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2026, at the age of 62, following a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease. He was born on May 17, 1963.

Dan was preceded in death by his mother, Eileen Davis. He is survived by his father, Edward Davis, of Holy Cross Village in Notre Dame, Indiana; his sister, Lisa Bartels, and her husband, Robert Bartels Jr., of Dowagiac, Michigan; his niece, Haley Bourdon of Niles, Michigan; and his nephews, Buchanan Bourdon of Sunnyvale, California, and Tanner Bourdon of Ormond Beach, Florida, along with Tanner’s wife, Randie Bourdon.

Dan’s family roots were in Culver, Indiana, where he spent time with his maternal grandparents, Albert and Evelyn Overmyer, and his paternal grandparents, Dale and Fern Davis. His connection to Culver remained strong throughout his life. He developed a deep passion for farming and the outdoors, finding joy and peace in time spent close to the land.

A graduate of Riley High School in South Bend, Dan demonstrated independence and determination from a young age. At just 19, he quietly rented a space, obtained the necessary licenses, and opened his own pizza shop, an early testament to his entrepreneurial spirit.

At age 22, Dan enlisted in the United States Navy, where he qualified for the elite nuclear program and served aboard the aircraft carrier USS Enterprise. He proudly dedicated six years to military service before returning home to Indiana.

Following his service, Dan began a long and meaningful career at I/N Tek–I/N Kote in South Bend, working as an electrician and mechanic. Over nearly three decades, he formed lasting friendships with coworkers who became like family, and the plant became a second home to him.

Dan will be remembered for his loyalty, generosity, and steady presence. He was a devoted son, brother, uncle, and friend, someone who could always be counted on. Some of his happiest moments were spent on fishing trips in Wisconsin, surrounded by the people he loved most.

Dan’s life was marked by quiet strength, hard work, and a kind heart. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Visitation for Dan will be held from 10am-11am on Saturday March 14 at the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan St. South Bend.  A funeral service will begin at 11am and burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery with military honors.
