Charlotte M. (Kleinert) Lies

Charlotte M. Lies, 93 of South Bend, IN., passed away at 1:35 p.m. Friday, February 27, 2026 at Providence Home by Fir in Mishawaka, IN., surrounded by her family.

Charlotte was born on October 13, 1932 in South Bend, IN., to Bernard and Margaret (Kristofzski) Kleinert.

On June 2, 1951 in South Bend, IN., Charlotte married Charles R. Lies. Charles preceded her in death on February 27, 2017. Charlotte was also preceded in death by her parents and her son, Timothy J. Lies.

Charlotte is survived by her two sons; Larry J. (Terri) Lies of Granger, IN and David A. (Mona) Lies of Indianapolis, IN., eight grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, her sister, Janice Johnson of Edwardsburg, MI and her brother, Jerry Kleinert of North Fort Myers, FL and a daughter in law, Susan Lies of New Carlisle, IN.

Charlotte graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in the class of 1950. Charlotte was a former member of Holy Family Catholic Church in South Bend. Charlotte worked for Magrane Animal Hospital as a surgical nurse and was proud of her accomplishments there. She enjoyed animals, her many crafts and collections. With Chuck, she enjoyed camping and hiking in Indiana’s state parks. She could strike up a conversation with anyone and was always willing to help someone in need, even through her last months during rehab.

Services for Charlotte will be on Thursday, March 5, at 2:00 p.m.(EST) at Palmer Funeral Home – Bubb Chapel, 3910 N. Main Street, Mishawaka where visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m.(EST) until service time at 2:00 p.m.(EST).

Entombment will follow at Highland Cemetery 2257 Portage Ave, South Bend.

Charlotte’s family would like to thank the staff at Providence Home by Fir and the hospice staff of Paradigm Health for the excellent care given to Charlotte.
